ABOUT ABOUT

Columbus based speaker teaches readers to “Smash the Box”

Columbus based motivational speaker and acting instructor Chad J. Willett has completed his first book, covering the principles outlined in his presentations to several of America’s top corporations.

A release party for “Smash the Box” will be 10:00 am- 12:00 pm Saturday April 18, 2015, at the Columbus Performing Arts Center- 549 Franklin Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43215. The event, is open to the public, will feature a keynote address, workshop and a book signing.

Thinking outside the box is an old saying, but the Zanesville native encourages people to smash the box in life and the workplace with techniques that has bettered his life learned from his acting career and interaction with some of Hollywood’s top stars.

Read how an encounter with legendary Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen taught Willett how preconceived notions create a wall of negativity. Learn the importance of observation and placing the focus on others just like Willett did from a commercial shoot with sci-fi icon William Shatner. Willett used the idea of “Ruin the Take” garnered from Oscar nominated actor Will Smith to land a featured cameo in the cult teen classic “She’s All That” opposite the late Paul Walker.

The foundation of “Smash the Box” is taking acting principles Willett learned from seven years as a working actor in Los Angeles and as a student at the University of Kentucky to smash the proverbial box so many find themselves in with work and life. “Ruin the Take” is about approaching problems in a new way. “Yes And,” a basis for improv comedy like Willett studied with the famed Groundlings, is all about staying positive and working toward solutions, not just saying no and moving on.

The idea of thinking differently translates to the book as Willett and his editor, journalist and fellow Zanesville native Leonard Hayhurst, sought to smash the book. Upside down pages, out of order pages, a lack of a table of contents, blank workbook pages and more are fun ways readers will learn to challenge their standard notions of the world, even what a book could or should be.

The 83 page book retails for 9.95 and will be available through Amazon.com.

Willett is the owner/operator of Broadway2LA Acting Studio in Columbus. He has given motivational presentations to employees of Discover Card, Nationwide Insurance, Direct Energy, Nationwide Insurance, Centric Consulting, Slippery Rock University, Ball State University, Procter & Gamble and Kentucky City County Management Association among others.

Willett is available for interviews by calling 614-572-9005 and more information on his book, acting school and motivational presentations can be found at chadjwillett.com.
